2016 Holiday Donations

Thanks to many generous individuals, groups and local businesses, Yale New Haven Hospital is the grateful recipient of numerous toy deliveries and fundraising efforts each holiday season. Our Child Life Department, as well as a multitude of departments throughout the hospital, are able to make the holidays a bit brighter for patients and their families as a result of these efforts. Thank you to everyone who helped spread holiday spirit in 2016!

Shari Wright of Newtown received donations to her father, Peter Aliapoulios’, memorial fund.  Marty Juliano of New England Brewing Company donated goods received through a toy drive and ugly Christmas sweater party held at four different local restaurants.
4th Annual Matthew Jacques Mission (MJM) Stuffed Plush Event - learn more at www.youcaring.com/MatthewJacques Will McManus, a 4th grader at Hawley Elementary School in Newtown, CT donated toys, collected as part of a school project.
Nicole and Joseph Ball delivered toys collected by employees and clients of D'Andrea Group Dunkin Donuts Franchises. The family of the late Bob Forcier honored his memory by collecting toys to bring joy to pediatric patients during the holidays. Mr. Forcier was a patient at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
Kisses from Katie delivered 19 bags of toys to YNHCH. Kisses from Katie is dedicated to honoring the life of Katie Manning by providing resources to critically ill children, their families and the people who are dedicated to caring for them. This is the 9th year they have made this generous gift. Stefanie Luongo (l) and Melissa Guerin from Kitchen Brains, Stratford, CT, stopped by Smilow to drop off a 60” television screen as well as diversion items for children of Smilow patients, collected from their company’s fundraising efforts.
IKEA New Haven held their annual “Let’s Play” campaign which encouraged customers to purchase a children’s book or toy and deposit it into a drop-box located after all checkouts. Jeff Zeitlin, Customer Relations Manager and Brandon Rorye, Sales Manager dropped off the generous donation to Child Life specialists Teresa McGinley and Anita Shea. The toys will benefit the patients and families of the Yale New Haven Pediatric Emergency Department. Yale New Haven Hospital Physician Assistants started a recycling program on their units and donated the proceeds to the YNHCH Wish Book.
