Overview
Given the tremendous success of the inaugural Stuart Brenner Memorial Golf Outing last summer, I am thrilled to announce that the event is officially back for 2022!
This golf outing is aimed to serve as a symbol of remembrance for Stuart Brenner. Stuart passed away in January 2019 after a months-long battle with Stage-IV GI & Liver cancer. Stuart was known as such an outstanding and well-respected individual, in both his personal and professional life. Since Stuart was such an avid golfer, holding this event will be our way of paying tribute to such an incredible and loving man.
In honor of Stuart’s remembrance, this event will be contributing all net proceeds to Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, CT, as this is where Stuart spent most of his time receiving medical care. The contribution will directly impact the Oncology Social Work fund. Thanks to all attendees, donors, and sponsors of last year’s event, the outing raised nearly $15k for the Oncology Social Work fund in 2021.
The 4th Annual Be Happy Run is scheduled for Sunday, August 28th at The Villages at Poquonock with Virtual options as well, to benefit the Closer to Free Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital.
Join Team Be Happy & Lindsay’s Legacy Foundation’s 4th Annual running of the Be Happy Road Race through the historic town of Windsor, CT! With your participation we aim to raise $25,000 to support the Smilow Cancer Center which focuses on innovative cancer treatment and quality care for patients and families who have been given a devastating cancer diagnosis.

In August of 2012, Greg Walsh died of Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). At the time, it was not a disease with which most people were familiar. In order to aid in IPF research, we started an annual Greg Walsh Outing. Over the years we have raised over $25,000.00 for research. This year’s date is September 10, 2022 at Whitney Farms in Monroe, CT. In order to increase our research donations, we are starting a “designated driver” event. Golfers will be obtaining pledges based on how far they can drive a golf ball. All proceeds will be going to Yale New Haven Hospital for Pulmonary Fibrosis research.
It’s Time For The Annual Boobstock Celebration In Deep River
Each year, for the past eight years, in the middle of September the annual Boobstock Celebration is held at the Sobieski Club in Deep River.
Paying it forward, one breast cancer survivor has touched many through the creation of the Boobstock Annual Celebration. Back in 2013, Deep River resident Margaret Rohner (pictured above with Jack Adanti) beat breast cancer and wanted to create something to give back to others, so she and her boyfriend Jack Adanti and dear friends Pattie Unan and Linda Johnson started Boobstock. Sadly, after the first celebration Rohner passed away, but Adanti, Johnson and Unan kept her dream alive. This year’s Boobstock will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Sobieski John III Club , 10 Woodland Rd, Deep River, CT 06417
“This is a very emotional celebration for me every year,” said Unan, who lost her mother to breast cancer in 2012.
She added, “This is a great event that helps so many people. The music is great, the food is fabulous and the money all goes to help underprivileged women battling breast cancer.”
Proceeds from the event go to Breast Cancer Research and Patient Treatment Programs and will be split 50/50 between Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital.
There will be five great bands performing, food, a bevy of raffle items donated by local businesses, a cash bar and lots of fun. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and because parking is limited, carpooling is suggested.
For more information about the raffle items call 860-227-6232 or email dram2006@gmail.com
